1. Participation tells a story
A breakout on heavy volume suggests many participants agree. The same breakout on tiny volume is easier to fade.
2. Climaxes and exhaustion
Extreme volume spikes can mark capitulation or euphoric tops. Context and follow-through matter more than one bar.
3. Limits of volume
Volume does not say who is right - only that activity rose. Pair it with news, levels, and your thesis.
Quiet drift vs loud break
A stock eases up 3% on half its average volume - often fragile. Another jumps 3% on triple average volume after guidance - more likely to matter.
